What am watching again (1) !

I was watching Spirit !

An awesome animation film from Dreamworks ...it's a 2D animated film about horse and how he struggles to remain free ...what i liked most is that they are not 'humanised' ...i mean to say that they remain on all there fours, don't talk like humans ...but still conveys all there feelings ...things to be watched are his fight with the officer who tries to tame him ...how he fights and destroys the railway plan and his interaction with the Red-Indian boy ...if not seen before, don't miss to watch it ...it's available on DVD now ...go ahead watch it !

Criticize !

A great animator whom i admire a lot gave me this tip ...watch lot of animation done by both experts and non-experts ...try to find all possible mistakes in them ...and this is just for your record you may not want to go pointing those to that particular animator ...this might prepare your eye to see mistakes ...once you have that 'eye' there are good chances that you will see your mistakes while doing the animation itself ...in the same sense it is recommended to visit various forums so as to read what people who already have that 'eye' are saying about a animation ...people may have different opinions about it but i kinda liked the idea ...so go ahead be a critic !

Independence Day !

(Do listen to the song at the end of the post !)

We celebrated our Sixty First Independence Day today !
Sixty One years and i was wondering what changes have occurred around me...what i see are two extreme conditions in the country whatever maybe the case...economical status, traditions, beliefs, education etc...we have people like Ambanis and Mitthals who are listed among richest people in world and at the sametime have people who still have nothing to eat on daily basis...people believing strongly in traditions etc...thus showing the example of idols drinking milk, divine figures weeping etc and the sametime living in the country yet remaining completely isolated from indigenous things...BPO's etc have made people adopt complete western style including there time schedules...they work for them...they work when people sleep in this country, inspite of getting a harsh treatment from some western mob who believes that people of this country are stealing there job through outsourcing processes...high population, less resources and thus the poverty has caused lot trouble in this country...corruption would not be a problem if people where not poor which eventually leads to what's going around...application of good living, education has thus became a hard thing...as said by a famous actor in film 'Swades' we should be thinking, am i really happy being a part of this country, what am I doing to make this a better place for me, people around me and generation to come...getting into army and fighting for country is not the only thing...doing smallest possible thing by each and every person makes a big difference...consider a small example of not littering...imagine the results when each and every person of this country does it...forget about what went wrong in past...we can start in present and try designing the new future...we youth should be taking care of this...we can start doing things differently, in positive way and it becomes a permanent path for generations to come...so let's take a oath guys to make it right !...doing properly a smallest thing will make a big difference...Happy Independence Day !...Have a Great Life ahead !

Horton Hears A Who !

Have you seen 'Horton hears a who' ?...if not, just go an see it...you may not want to miss this wonderful piece of art...i am not mentioning about the story line, concept etc...but yes animation...it's just awesome !...i am trying to mention few points which impressed me the most...if i really start pointing all the things i liked, i guess i will be posting entire film here...each and every part of the animation is fantastic !...what i liked most is the some cool poses they have shown...they have broken the bones...you can see body parts move the way you never imagined, yet it is not hurting the viewing in any way...it is said, it's ok to exaggerate to any extend, just see to it that it is believable and it follows those basic principles (you can see a post telling more about this here) and they have exactly done that way...for example see the Mayor...he takes his son to show a history of his family...starting from his grandfather to great great grandfather from stone-age...before mentioning the 'greatness' he anticipates in very strange way...he breaths in, moves his head back and rolls his hand as if it was made of rubber...see the pic below...man i loved this ! you can see many such cool poses throughout the film...one more thing to mention is how Horton managed to do some cool stuff using his ears...he uses his ears as a hat... sometimes salutes with it...and many such things..you must see the entire film to capture them all...my salutes to all those animators, who worked on this awesome movie...go ahead watch it !

How they do it anyway !

Few years back I remember seeing this TV serial "Who's line is it anyway" on some channel...and now, while browsing the net I came across this video...here they have a part called as 'scenes from hat'...there are some random scenes written on paper...this guy 'Drew Carry' if I remember correct (guy with glasses) takes them out the hat and reads it...actors act accordingly...I always wondered whether this show is staged...do they have rehearsals...or they just act instantly...if so, probably these guys are best actors throughout the world...ok to the main point...in that shot, one situation is 'what will happen if entertainers where at funerals'...In all that I loved one act, done by that green guy (Ryan, if I am correct)...he comes to the center stages...opens the coffin...puts his hand...err...I doubt where...and lifts the body, and acts as if he is working with some hand puppet...meaning that he has made a hand puppet out of that body...so what it has to do with animation ?...I liked how he acted out...look closely when he lifts the body...he shows the weight of that body...not only that theres a little bit change in his voice while doing so, which is caused due to pain of lifting something heavy...and even when theres nothing there you can clearly feel the over-lapping action...mainly cause dead body is lifeless..it will tend to hang if lifted from one side...to show this he has used both his hands and also the upper part of the body...ant the end of the act..he keeps the body down...and 'slides' his hand out...and while going off stage he don't forget to close the coffin...really good example for some pantomime animation...
